GEMS Girl's Club - Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior
Jesus
encouraged His disciples to allow the children to come to Him. At GEMS,
we encourage girls everywhere to come to club, learn about Jesus, and
grow closer to Him.
GEMS is a ministry for girls in grades 4 - 8. The
girls explore a new theme each year along with Bible lessons and special
events. They meet alternating Mondays, September through April, at 7:00
PM at Third Church.
The
purpose of GEMS Girls' Club is to bring girls into a living relationship
with Jesus Christ. To help foster this all-important relationship
between each girl and Christ, other relationships are nurtured as well -
between girls and between girls and their counselor (leader).
Girls in our GEMS Girls' Club are organized into small groups with one
leader or counselor for each group of six to eight girls. And it is
through these small groups, and the bi-weekly interactions that take
place in club that faith is nurtured and developed, and long lasting
friendships are made.
In
GEMS the girls are involved in many fun and exciting things:
- Play games that work on team building
- Enjoy dynamic singing, creative movement, and signing
- Develop important life skills through badge activities
- Learn how to apply the teachings of the Bible to their own lives
- Make creative crafts for themselves and others
- Participate in service projects that really make a difference in
other people’s lives
- Find answers to many of the challenges that face girls today
The name GEMS is an acronym which stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting
the Savior. It clearly identifies the purpose for which the ministry was
created.
If you know a girl who
would benefit from our club, or want to come and visit and see what it
is all about, please give our club coordinator a call - Melinda Bratt,
354-1230. We meet every other Monday night from 7:00 PM -9:00 PM in the
church basement (we meet opposite nights as the Cadets).
